About Me

I was born (1955) and grew up in Cologne, studied photographic engineering there and then worked in the forensic photographic technology department of the Bavarian LKA for 35 years. The "beautiful" side of photography has always accompanied me. During this time I held photo courses, among others on "The Art of Seeing". Since 2005 I have exhibit regularly during the "Otterfinger Kulturwoche", since 2016 also in the "Kunstausstellung Bayrischzell" in Tegernsee and in some solo exhibitions. Some of my pictures are to be found in engineering offices and law firms.

"Pictures are created in the head and not in the camera". The projects I have been working on are all marked by this knowledge. Some are completed, others are still current.

These are:

Milieu studies and still lifes from Italy, photographed from 1990 to 2002 with a then 40-year-old Leica 3f on Polachrome instant slide films. It is not possible to imitate the unique look of this analog film with today's digital filters.
Along with the rather soft contrast, but still sharp detail reproduction of the lenses, the pictures on the Polachrome already had something "picturesque" back then, which has now been perfected with digital printing on structured watercolor paper.

Completely Detached

Artistes create their works with various intentions. Some objects are created deliberately, but others unconsciously. And of course nature also fabricates unique works of art.
To perceive the particularity of these objects of everyday life and nature, to detach them from their original environment and present them as a new work, is one of my projects, which I have been pursuing for a long time.

Consequently the titles of these pictures no longer allow any conclusion concerning the subject. Often it is only moment of suitable light that makes me to take a photo, sometimes the purely graphic effect of a small section.

Flowers are works of art of nature, but when they are withered they still have their charms, what I preserve with my pictures. By reducing them to the essentials of the plant, the viewer must come to terms with a new point of view that does not focus on the immaculate, pure beauty, but on the sublimity in the ephemeral. I find the beauties in nature, in gardens, in stores, or I take them into my studio.
Fine art printing

Pictures are powerful and omnipresent and guide us through our digital and analog everyday life. We encounter only fleetingly or perceive them unconsciously and it's only the special ones that we remember many of them at a later time, without knowing any more where we saw them. I would like to escape this "fleetingness" by presenting my pictures on special materials. Digital technology makes it possible to print on very different media. I prefer textured watercolor paper and aluminum plates with different surfaces and present these works protected against light, but not behind a pane of glass.
